Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It can fit right in your palm.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Micro has a bone to pick, and he wants everyone to know it.  He will tell anyone who listens that when he was a young hatchling, he spent his days innocently toddling around near a frozen pond.  But one day, a cruel, heartless Winter dragon unleashed her frosty breath on Micro and froze him solid.  Micro proudly recounts that through his unparalleled cunning and the fire of his indomitable spirit, he managed to escape, but the attack left him maimed and unable to grow further.  Doomed by dint of his breed to be diminutive by nature, Micro is now cursed to be scarcely taller than the chickens to whose sympathetic ears he recounts his sad tale.  He fails to mention to them that the actual reason he was frozen was that he persisted in chucking stones at the Winter dragon.
