Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

This dragon is said to appear whenever someone is dying. Now, there are many such boogeymen and mythical creatures that do this, but there is a certain reason why this particular dragon, known as the Soul of Death, is feared much more. For not only does the Soul of Death appear as a bad omen, but he also descends upon dying people and siphons the soul out of them. It is said that the Soul of Death flies with midnight black wings, that it can appear at will, and that those who witness him ripping the soul from dying creatures are scarred for life, soon to die their own deaths. Its glowing eyes, blood-red from the many souls it consumes, is enough to cause insanity in any person. But the true nature surrounding this mysterious dragon is unknown. Much of the folklore is nothing but myth. Maybe the Soul of Death is more ordinary than everyone is told to believe. Maybe he doesn't fly. Maybe he doesn't disappear. Maybe he is just an ordinary dorsal. Whatever the truth, nobody will ever know.
