Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Carlos is arguably the most aloof and emotionally distant of Welcomes' three consorts. His pride has gotten him into trouble on multiple occasions, and it's often questioned why the Guardian of Nature chooses to keep him at her side as a mate. While he enjoys the company of the bubbly Sequential Drift, he coolly disdains W'nahi when he doesn't have to work together with him for whatever reasons.

His clan-mates tend not to see his unwavering determination to keep the tempers of the dragons in his family's immediate vicinity in check. Perhaps only Welcomes saw something break his narcissism when he first witnessed Sequential Drift reduced to a quivering wreck of a creature when a fight over food broke out. It's no secret that Carlos prefers to keep his social relations private. He gladly bears the weight of his clan-mates' scorn if it means helping the caretaker of his children to live a healthier, stress-free life.
