Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Spiritwind was the quietest hatchling ever raised by the human Kira, who has raised many other dragons. First of all he was the first she had raised that was born with wings. She couldn't get much information out of him. He was very curious, and liked to listen to the other dragons chatting. He always loved to hear Kira sing to the hatchlings. Spiritwing was longing to fly, and liked to climb onto Leafstorm's back, and glide off. He played with another white female dragon also raised by Kira, called Kora May. No one knows for sure, but some of the other dragons think he fancies her. Spiritwind has no current mate or offspring. As soon as he grew up, he requested his name from Kira, and took off into the skies, ready to fly around the world.
