Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Blakat's one of the most elegant hunters in the Cave. Whenever Blak is hunting, he is elegantly swirling around his legs, and in a masterful dance, he strikes his prey on the ground and then finishes them. Blakat has a certain disadvantage, since he has no wings, but he makes up for it with his hunting style and his intelligence. His hypnotizing dances also occur when he is fighting. He hops around his enemy, gives out small barks as if he sets a beat for his dance, and then strikes at the weak spot of his opponent. Blakat is one of the few saying he actually trusts no one until they prove they are truly who they are. Blakat has the tendency to risk his life for the ones he trusts, and that's one of the reasons why he wants to make sure they are worth it before throwing himself in the battle.
