Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s small, but already likes to play-fight.

And look! It has grown spikes! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pichri has an extremely rare condition where his body stops growing, so while he appears to be a young hatchling he is in fact fully grown dragon trapped in his hatchling stage. Pichri had come to the cave where the child of dragons lived as a hatchling, as most dragons who live there had before him. He played with the other hatchlings normally, but when all the other hatchlings had become fully grown dragons, he remained in his hatchling form. Newer generations teased him for being small forever, but Yagete decided to give Pichri a special place among the protectors of the cave- a group of powerfully skilled dragons who proudly dedicate their time to the safety of the cave. Pichri is a special agent spy, using his smallness to lurk around the perimeter of the cave and easily evade intruders. Even if he is somehow cornered with no choice but to fight, he is skilled at spotting weaknesses and attacking it. The ranks has given him confidence in who he is.
