Moonstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. They are nocturnal and gather energy through the absorption of moonlight with their orbs. They seem to glow with a lunar light and are a very gentle breed, feeding off of plants and the moons’ power.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wilfre Fogrunner was second-in-command of the nomadic Moonstone clan before they came to the Gillian clan.  Despite his important position, he and the clan's leader, Krrsan Whitefire, are often at odds because of their contrasting personalities.  While Krrsan is firm and serious, Wilfre tends to be carefree and flirtatious.  One of the only reasons he holds such a position is because of his mate, Spathi Moonmist.  She volunteered him to be in a leader's position; she knew that behind the harmless flirt's eyes lay a shrewd, clever mind.  Because Spathi is trusted for her decision, Wilfre now enjoys the rank of second-in-charge.
