Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tengfei and Maizoukin were so excited when they saw the golden egg that Maizoukin had just laid. They knew that the baby inside was going to look just like its mama. When the baby hatched, his parents were even more thrilled. With his hatching, they had their first son. They named him Jinzhi, which means "Golden Branch" in Chinese. Jinzhi was always a calm dragon, never getting riled up. He met his mate, Hinoiri, when she had run off into the woods to skulk. The other males were bothering her again, pressuring her to pick a male to court. Jinzhi just happened to be relaxing, when she stormed into his clearing, breathing flame, and curses. She was a terrible, fearsome, and beautiful sight to behold. He felt sorry for her, and went down to talk to her. He calmed her down, and soon they struck up a friendship. Eventually it led to more, as they fell in love. Neither was looking to begin courting, but that's what eventually happened. They love each other so much, and they always will.
