Lightning Pygmies are well-known as rumors but rarely seen. An ill-mannered breed, their confidence comes from the tremendous energy that they absorb from natural lightning bolts. They hunt in the middle of storms, reaching high speeds, and with the help of lightning magic they go after prey like a lightning bolt.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Pygmy dragons are the smallest category of dragons, being on the same scale as domesticated animals. They are often found around concentrated populations of dragons, relying on their larger brethren to ward away potential predators and leave scraps. As such, the majority of a pygmy’s diet is scavenged. Due to their tiny size, pygmies do not breed with larger varieties of dragons.

Like the wild cat she is named after, Cougar is fierce and majestic. She is an ace of the air, rivaling the acrobatic ability of her mother, Maverick. However, like her older brother, Goose, Cougar's actual level of competency can be a bit dodgy. She tends to act way bolder than she really is and posture in such a way that makes her sound like a big deal. In reality, Cougar gets easily frightened in the face of real danger. She freaks at the sight of much larger Lightning dragons and has almost gone into fainting spells over the wind pressure she faces in storms. She tries to hide these facts from her family, Maverick in particular. In fact, it is the equally posturing Goose that notices these flaws, mostly because he uses similar tactics to impress their mother.
