Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is very aggressive, and has brilliant turquoise markings all over its body.
And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
User Description
Sichelmond ("crescent moon") was named for a marking shaped like a small crescent moon that makes it very easy to tell Sichelmond apart from other Spitfire hatchlings—that is, it makes it easy for humans, Spitfires have no problem telling their children apart. Sichelmond was one of the hatchlings exploring the cave of the Ice Dragon, and, not being used to low temperatures, promptly froze and barely got away alive. This incident curbed the growth but not the spirit of the little Spitfire. If anything, Sichelmond grew even more active and vivacious to make up for any lack of physical strength. During territorial fights, Sichelmond is almost as dangerous as a grown dragon, at least against enemies who underestimate such a small opponent.
