Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Lassie of Ridgewing is a hatchling that enjoys tromping through flower fields. She enjoys the peacefulness of it and digging for some potential treats below. She is never seen without at least one companion, and this companion can range from other hatchlings to adult dragons to Drakes. She is extremely loyal, and is known to be extremely dependable.
