Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Midnight Inks is a young Black dragon. Like the other Black dragons in her clan, she lives in a small cavern with several pieces of parchment and inks. She is always found drawing charcoal pictures of clocks, such as watches, wall clocks, timers, stopwatches, etc. However, she always draws them warped in strange ways, usually as if they're melting. When asked about what they are supposed to represent, she replies, "Time is melting away as we speak." Only the other Black dragons and occasionally Izar know what she means by this. She also has a large collection of clocks that she's either found or stolen from shops in Drakeville, especially stopwatches. She hangs these clocks from strings on the cavern's ceiling, each one telling a different time, and stares at them frequently for hours.
