Antarean Dragons are peaceful creatures shrouded in mystery. They are primarily found in the desert where they get most of their energy from sunbathing. Their most notable traits are their highly reflective manes and the mysterious light emitted by their scales which fades from bright, nearly blinding yellow-white into dim red as the dragons get older. Legend claims that they are otherworldly beings that came to this world when a meteor struck.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kyddyryde is an extremely friendly antarean. She loves youngsters; she lets them climb all over her, gives them rides, and lets them comb and braid her mane. After festivals, it is common to find her covered in smears of paint and with ribbons tied randomly in her mane.

After parents take the youngsters home, she may spend hours getting herself back to normal. She chuckles with every reminder of the youngsters that she cleans off. When asked about it, she said that she only cleaned off to give youngsters a fresh palette on which to work the next time.
