Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it’s trying to breathe fire.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Volca was close to dying, but frozen at the last minute. She has the childish nature of any other hatchling and has long been bored of not having as developed minds and abilities as the adult dragons. The only exception is Miata, a Magi dragon who will often entertain Volca with her strong magic and teach her techniques that improve her flying. She's become less close with Miata ever since the Magi and Bern-chan started traveling without her.<br/>    She likes playing with Nanekki and will often spit embers or smoke that look nice with the black dragon's natural glow. They chase each other around playfully. She also gets along with most of the other hatchlings and is probably the most social of any of them.
