Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When the Cave Mistress had first picked up Meirin's egg, she had no idea what surprises were in store for her. Okay, so she had to use enchanted gloves in order to pet Meirin and hold her, due to her skins burning temperature, but she didn't think much of it.

The real surprise happened when Meirin reached adulthood.

The Mistress had been on her way to the clans mountain home for her usual visit when she first realised something was wrong. Once she had reached the top of a rocky outcrop she saw to her shock that what had once been bare mountain and uninhabited land on the other side of the territory, was now black and steaming, with the glow of fire here and there.

She knew that lava field hadn't been there the day before.

It took some explaining, but Meirin managed to convince her everything was okay. She needed somewhere hot to live, so the family had simply conquered the dragon clan living in the neighbouring territory and used magic to transform the land to suit Meirins needs.
