Sweetlings are a small, flightless breed of dragon. They are omnivores who favor sweet fruits and honey, and have been known to go to great lengths to obtain their favorite treats. Their long, prehensile tails allow them to grab onto branches and give them superior balance. Sweetlings are expressive dragons and have a large array of calls to communicate with others. They become very vocal during breeding season and sing long, beautiful melodies to attract a mate. Inquisitive in nature, Sweetlings are known to investigate anything that piques their interest, and are quick to flee if the object of their curiosity strikes back.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

For a long time, the paws of Sweetlings were worn by many people of different cultures in Zhan Zhedang as amulets to ward off evil. Since Sweetlings are famously nimble and quick on their feet, they are also lucky charms favored by thieves. Sadly, this has led to Sweetlings being almost hunted to extinction on the island of Zhan Zhedang, in fact, Daixi is the last one of his kind seen on the entire island in the last decade. He is easily distinguishable on account of having lost his tail in a trap. Efforts have been made to capture him and release him into the southern colonies, where there are still several thriving populations of Sweetlings.
