Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Elolias describes himself having "itchy wings" that can never stay still for long. He claims to enjoy spending his life as an adventurer, every day seeing something new. But in truth, he longs for company, and some small part of him longs for a normal life in a friendly village, where he can finally rest his wings for good.

He didn't even know how much that sense of normal meant until he found himself on the run from a group of hunters. To escape them, he cast a spell that gave him human form, but also erased his memories. Elolias was later forced to effectively kill his new identity and become the lonely draconic traveller once more in order to fight the hunters, but it was the hardest thing he had ever done. He had realized how much he loved his new life and the people he had met, especially a human girl who had stolen his heart. Years later he still daydreams of the life he could have had as a human in that sleepy village, doing monotonous everyday tasks alongside a girl he loved.
