Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Daxus Rentis, born of the mighty Rentis Bloodline, was well-known and well-liked by his family. Daxus was popular with the females and respected and admired by the other young males. He felt untouchable. One day, as he was out on an evening flight, he was caught in a storm. The gale blew Daxus far from his home, and ruined his precious wings. He was close to death when Belit-ili found him. She nursed him back to health, and he fell in love with her. He begged her to be his Mate, but when his persistence became too much, she threw him out of the cave. He wandered the valley as a ghost. Daxus sunk into a deep depression that would last days. But then he met Lukrios. They became fast friends and Daxus rose out of his depression. He went back to the Clan with Lukrios. He now has a Mate, but still avoids Belit-ili. Daxus was promoted to Second-in-Command when Pharoh became Clan-Leader, but after Sorrin took over the title, he tamely gave up the position.
