When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Azura is the sub-dominant female of Katriel. She's been around almost as long as Ace and Zarrah, though not quite. She's an explorer at heart, and her being a water dragon allows her to travel easily. She often wanders around, picking up new eggs or hatchlings. Shes very nurturing towards young dragons, but has a hard time forming bonds, as she's always out on new expeditions. Azura is very knowledgeable, and her ancestors include so many types of dragons she's made it her life-time goal to learn everything about every type of dragon she's related to. She is one of the main inhabitants of Katriel Isles complex river system, and often retreats with her mate, Ash Flynn, to their aquatic cave on the far side of the island.
