Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Keenan is EZ's very first gold dragon. She got him at a slightly bad time though, because he hatched during the lag!

He remembers leaving his eggshell behind and looking for his owner. No one was there. All the others had hidden themselves from the lagmonster, including a young paper hatchling. He felt a bad aura coming near him and turned around. The lagmonster was about ready to devour Keenan! He squeaked and tried to run. The paper hatchling and an adult mint, Peaceful Ann, pulled him to safety while Agni Kai held off the lagmonster.

Overall, he feels he's very lucky and lives every day to its fullest. He and the paper, Book Paige, remain best friends.
