This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ampage is only usually very active during the night and doesn't seem to care for sunlight.  She stays in the darkness of a cave during most of the day and only comes out to hunt during the dead of night.  When she hunts, the other hatchlings- and some adults- tend to stay away from her.  She isn't very friendly, and would probably attempt to hunt a smaller hatchling if she had the chance; though the many adults watching over her prevent this.
