Spirit Ward Dragons are a special breed that ward off evil spirits—at least, that’s what the legends say. During nighttime festivals, people love to see these dragons, because they believe that the dragons guard against evil spirits. The dragons are dark-colored, but glow with a flame-colored internal light that has an intensity that they control.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Late one night, some of Devidra's Zombie Dragon underlings lurked a bit too close to where Sol Orb's clan was resting and targeted the clan's only hatchling, Celestial Windshear. Before anyone in the clan could even make a move to protect Celestial Windshear, the Zombie Dragons were driven away by the light mana emanated by Night Lumine, who had been passing through the area by chance. As thanks for his aid in saving Celestial Windshear, Sol Orb's clan gave the Spirit Ward enough food to fill his belly. When they explained all about their history with Devidra, Night Lumine felt sympathy for Sol Orb's clan. Ever since then, he frequently tailed them in order to stand guard over the clan as they slept, to ensure Devidra would not attack them during the night.
