Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The story of Sun is, perhaps, best told through his parents. Winter was a cold and dreary time in the land where his father walked, even the merriment of festivities and the magic of holiday dragons not entirely warding off the gloom it brought. So it was that, when a Sunsong appeared before him--that rare breed, even more elusive than usual in his land than most, that embodied the joy and warmth of the sun--he had little choice but to be captivated, swiftly falling in love and receiving love in turn. Sun is the result of that happy couple and, like his parents, he seeks the light in even the darkest situations, warming the hearts of those around him during times of deadly storm and frolicking in the snow with others on those rare days of winter sunlight.
