Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Babaski is known to be kind to everyone and an open minded individual that will do her best to assist in whatever way she possibly can. Babaski does not act this way consciously; her parents brought her up to be extremely helpful and it has been ingrained into her nature. It is because of her approachability that she has become the tribe's 'shrink' of sorts. Troubled dragons come to her for advice, counsel, and relief when they can not find it on their own. Babaski is always bewildered at this, as she does not think herself very good at comforting. She never knows what to say, and some of the problems that the other dragons have told her have made her want to go home and cry. Other times she is stuck dealing with spoiled dragons who complain about everything and she has no clue how to say "suck it up" without getting her tail stomped.
