Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The first egg tended by Thyme to hatch, the whiptail—named Whip Blade—is far faster than his caretakers, and often plays games of letting them get close before dashing off, but he is always still for meals and grooming. Though he doesn't share Thyme's liking of chilled foods, Blade dislikes cooked food, aside from lightly steamed vegetables. He doesn't like tending the eggs like Thyme does, instead preferring to try to race anything that moves.
