Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A wanderer, a prince crowned only with laurels and a tattered violet ribbon wound around his tail. At least, that is what Iranon claims, no one has ever been able to confirm (or for that matter, deny) that his wild stories have any basis in fact. The silver dragon can often be found in large cities or towns, singing and telling tales about a kingdom that seems like something out of a dream. There, Iranon says, are exotic gardens enclosed in marble walls, where the scent of sandalwood is carried on soft summer breezes. There, dragons and men live in harmony, in houses constructed of the finest woods and crystal windows, and in the center of the city, a castle beyond imagining. He once lived there, in walls inlaid with sea glass and precious gems, he played in towers of lapis that sparkled like the night sky, the only child of the Golden Queen and Bronze King.

Those are the stories the homeless and kinless Iranon will tell in exchange for scraps of food, or a blanket in the night.
