Witchlight Dragons are silent, secretive beasts that haunt the most remote corners of the wilderness. They beguile their unsuspecting prey into peril by assaulting their perceptions of reality and stoking the fires of paranoia with masterfully-conjured illusions. Unwary travelers have been led astray by the soft, inviting glow of their eyes amidst a sea of encroaching darkness, never to be seen again. Those that survive a Witchlight Dragon’s psychic onslaughts do not escape unchanged: some believe that the apparitions these dragons summon to tempt or torment their victims awaken them to hidden truths about themselves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Foras is surprisingly mellow and kind, despite her threatening appearance. She is the foster mother of the powerful Arcana, Samigina, who now leads a group of equally terrifying beasts across the world. Foras is very quiet and reserved but caring to all around her. She will actively take care of those that cannot fend for themselves or are currently in a state of sickness. This maternal demeanor makes her a beloved member of the group. Even the most vicious and ruthless members treat her with respect. Foras is probably one of the greatest magic users of her time, though this is a difficult claim to prove, since she hardly ever uses magic at all. Foras has a firm belief that magic should only be used when it is absolutely necessary. Otherwise, she relies on practical solutions, her own observation skills, and kindness of others to live a happy life. She believes that no magic is more powerful than a kind hand, a value she has imparted onto her adopted son.
