Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Icicles keep forming on its body, but it doesn’t seem to be bothered by the cold.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Snow Bound, despite living in a world of eternal frost where you wouldn't expect food to be plentiful or life to be easy, is a very pampered little hatchling. Her mother and grown-up sister would never stop fussing about her for a moment if they had their way. Luckily there is a frozen Storm hatchling living in their cave, who sometimes manages to tempt Snow Bound into overcoming her natural laziness and joining in her games.
