Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Caretaker had learned the hard way not to trust eggs of an unknown breed, but still took a chance on the fragile, speckled egg he found outside his home one morning.  Agriala turned out to be the devoted companion he'd always wished for, though, fully devoted to his cause of rescuing abandoned eggs and hatchlings.  She cares for the foundlings as devotedly as he does, telling them stories and playing games with them.  In times of danger, Agriala is quick to leap to the defense of her adopted family, roaring as fiercely as any red dragon.  She mourns each hatchling as they grow up and leave, but there's always some new arrival needing her care.
