Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Midnight Observer is what dragons might call a "passive" dragon, though he is really so mysterious that nobody knows his true nature. Not a pacifist, but not always inclined towards violence like some of his brethren, it would be easy to say that he is somewhere in between. Except, the truth is that he isn't. Rather, he isn't any of them.

Midnight Observer received his name from what he is seen doing the most—observing other dragons. He doesn't follow them around, he just shows up occasionally to look at what they are doing. But if there is a battle between his clan and wild dragons or visiting dragons turned filibusters, he won't join in, he'll simply hide somewhere safe and watch the fight as if he was the audience. Then, after the scuffle is settled, he'll quietly leave to wherever he goes when he isn't observing other dragons. He rarely, if ever, fights, but when he does, he's exceptional, maybe because he observes many dragons' battle tactics and develops counterattacks to them.
