Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts autumn weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This dragon has done something unforgivable: Kill another hatchling.

The other hatchling was the son of one of the well-respected War Mounts. Despite her pleas to the other dragons on how it was self-defense as the other hatchling attacked her first, she was not given any sympathy and was frozen so she could not grow bigger (and thus cause more damage later) and quickly cast out of the cave just due to the other hatchling's stature. Her father and mother are also facing a trial of sorts to see if they are to be kicked out as well for this young one's transgression.

She now lives in the desert- a very harsh environment to survive in, but safe from the other dragons who have sworn to kill her should she come near them.
