Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This shy hatchling lives in the shadow of the site of a famous battle between dragons. Although he hatched long after the battle was over, because of his very pale skin and tendency to hide when he sees others, those who caught glimpses of him mistook him for the ghost of a dragon killed during the famous battle. As a result, few dare travel near his home lest they disturb the restless spirit. This suits him wonderfully, so he is quite content with his reputation.
