Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Cheesy Bread spends most of his time alone and in hiding. He has a constant fear that the rest of the dragons around him will try to eat him if he ever comes into the open. The only times when he dares to venture out into the open is in broad daylight to fetch small pieces of bread that are left out for him. Bread is his favorite food and is the only thing that makes him forget about his fears.
