Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Thryxwen is an illegitimate daughter of the great V'sii. When Noyida, already mated to Azeryx Stormweaver, went wild with grief for her unhatched second child, she gave herself to winds that carried her far a-storm, and as she rode the clouds and poured out the thunder of her heart she happened upon a male storm dragon. Unknowing and uncaring, desiring only to replace her loss, she danced in the gale, and the beauty of it enchanted V'sii himself, and her zenith of passion seduced him. The result of their union was unknown to V'sii until long after, for Noyida returned to Stormweaver skies. When Noyida's egg hatched, Azeryx deduced at once who she had encountered, and it amused him to see V'sii cheated so. But though he would not withhold a place for the twixtborn hatchling, neither would he adopt it as his own.

Thryxwen grew quickly, strong-willed but yearning for a sense of identity. She flew of her own accord to V'sii territory, determined to conquer the hardship of her origin.
