Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It must be very shy since it keeps hiding from you.

It’s gotten slightly bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Despite her diminutive size, Minty acts more like her father in terms of character. While most of the other dragons are more that twenty times her size, the small Mint never ceases in trying to annoy them, snapping at tailtips or throwing herself against their legs.

When she is not annoying the adults, Minty challenges Kay's position as the hatchlings' leader, though she is continuously rebuffed by his limited magic powers and beaten by his superior size.

Still, she tries. Just because her mom is a coward shouldn't mean that every small dragon is a sissy, after all.
