Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

His name means "Shield". He is one of the many sons of Mamosuke and Emi, and was raised alongside his brother Hakukakotai. Like his father, he is fiercely protective, and is a defender of the colony. He also inherited his mother's free spirit and sense of adventure. Therefore, he is one of the few dragons that accompanies Remy into the Wilderness, looking for abandoned eggs to rescue. He is often the one that convinces wild hatchlings to come to the valley, promises them that they will have a better life, with family and friends. He is a very brave and caring dragon, and hatchlings love him. That's what his mate, Asayake, loves most about him. They met at the edge of the wilderness, just as Shi-rudo was bringing Samayou into the valley for the first time. Their eyes met, and they fell in love. They became mates at sunrise, on a beautiful spring day. They are soul mates, and their love is eternal.
