Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Erachana Tapia (Chanie for short) was adopted by Tapi and Eracha when they accidentally abandoned their own egg, and when she grew up she was given their names. Chanie is a lively young dragon who loves racing. Her current aim is to beat her adopted father, Tapi, to become the fastest in the clan at running on land. She isn't too far off, and is already longing for more competition. She is also working on her flying technique, and is hoping to soon be eligible to compete at competitions. One of the reasons Chanie has become so successful is her determination and competitiveness. She goes off and sulks for days if she comes last in a race. Everyone is glad that hardly ever happens. A sulky Chanie is not wanted, at all.
