Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hyrane has rather lackluster wings when compared to her father. Then again, this is to be somewhat expected of a mixed lineage female, only she doesn't quite like that. Everything available goes into her attempts at making her wings shine. Constant splashes of water, precious stones, bits of eggshells left from metallics, nothing seems to satisfy her want for truly beautiful wings.

All the other dragons try to calm her, tell her that she's just normal and at her age, she shouldn't be worrying about appearances. All their sayings go to naught, however, because this skywing is so nervous about society, any and all critics on her appearance send her soaring straight for her make-up chamber and stores of 'glamour products'. Poor girl never realizes just how beautiful she really is, underneath all of that unneeded glitter.
