Ridgewing Dragons live just below the snow level on the upper slopes of mountains. They are a friendly, playful breed and enjoy dancing in wind currents near their homes or plummeting down into valleys from great heights. Their wings, by far their most striking feature, grow in fin-like ridges along their backs. While their bodies lack markings to blend better with their surroundings, a ridgewing’s wings have bright markings in the colors of the flowers that grow in their mountain habitat. Occasionally different-colored individuals can be found, but they are rare because their striking coloring offers little protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Since the day she hatched, she was carefree and whimsical like others of her kind. Always lighthearted, she cheered the caretakers and was every hatchling's favorite playmate. This did not last.

The day her wings opened, the Keeper—the one who lorded over the Keep—sought her out. When she fluttered clumsily to the Keeper's side, the Keeper smote her with a blade wet with the blood of other youngsters. Betrayed, she fell, and her spirit left her body. This did not last.

The day she grew into adulthood, the world of spirits drew close, warded off only by candy and costumes. The Keeper spoke magic over the softly rotting body of Anchimayen to reanimate her as the undead.

It worked too well, calling her soul back and restoring her maturing body to its full health. But the week she had been dead had opened her eye. She sequestered herself from the painfully bright living and has made a home on a high peak in the Dusk Divide Keep's territory, living in silence to better hear the dead.
