Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s already quite large compared to other hatchlings, and appears to like roughhousing.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The Gracious Night is the daughter of The Brutal Night, the fearless and fearsome leader of a small band of female Brutes. Though she is forever a hatching, "Gracious" is a huge help to her clan; her small size allows her to sneak into places that the adults can't and flush out prey more easily for the rest of the pack to hunt down. Even though she is, of course, still heavily reliant on her mother and "aunts", Gracious is rather independent and can hunt down small prey with ease, allowing her busy mother to focus on other tasks for the group. Being such a capable young hatchling, Gracious has become rather well-known around the land and has made friends with many other frozen hatchlings like herself.
