Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lord Malchior is the outcast of his clan. Many of the clan members think of him as a freak because of how odd he looks, especially Lady Ariella who's known for being quite nasty with anything that doesn't meet her "standards" of beauty and good looks. He is used to this type of treatment, the only members of his clan that treat him nicely are his mate Lora Lady of Dreams who thinks the world of him and Mintriella who always tries to cheer him up when the other dragons tease him. The other males of the clan often tease and make fun of him and don't regard him with respect as a hunter or warrior. Despite what the others say he is quite capable in battle and despite that most of the clan doesn't think much of him he is quick to come to their aid in battle.
