Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pantera, as he prefers to be called, is a very misunderstood dragon. He spends a lot of time starting fights with the other hatchlings. His mother, Koramin, doesn't understand how her son can be so wild and apparently cruel while her mate, Dutchkiller realizes that it is the warrior spirit of the black dragons unable to be assuaged because of his son's frozen state. Most dragons don't see it but Dutch's assessment is the correct one. Pantera is always causing the most trouble when all the warriors are off defending the homelands from invasion. He just wishes that someday he'd be able to join in and protect those he loves from harm.
