And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Botherpaw is one of Phoenix's dragons. He is a somewhat insane, incredibly annoying hatchling that loves playing tricks on the other hatchlings, ranging from painting Brightharts shiny golden horns purple to putting a ring of hot coals around Arctictooth while he sleeps. Botherpaw is also one of the main culprits trying to sneak bites out of Kitchendrake. He isn't really useful for anything, according to the less sympathetic of the older dragons, unless one was to bribe him into tormenting ones enemies.
