Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dormhain came to the flock one night, silently like a shadow. He had flown so far and simply was seeking a place to rest. Curled up at the very edge of the nest, he drifted into a cold sleep, only to be wakened by a fierce roar, as Freiceadan prepared to attack the intruder. Startled and confused, Dormhain struggled and whipped around to gain footing, but could not move fast enough. As Freiceadan was just about to strike, Fiadhaich lashed at his face to avert the blow. While Dormhain finally got up, he watched as Freiceadan and Fiadhaich roared and screeched at each other until all was quiet and Freiceadan returned to his watchful post on the cliff. Fiadhaich gingerly approached Dormhain and, just as their noses were about to touch, she relaxed, curled into a ball, and began to sleep. Assuming all was safe Dormhain laid down next to her and drifted off as well, beginning his welcome time in Jalaysia.
