Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. The speckled and fragile eggs were highly coveted when they were first discovered. Dragon masters and mistresses from across the globe raced and fought to secure one or two of their own. One egg was smuggled out and away from the cave and given to another, who swore to care and watch over it.<br/>Soon the rush for the eggs was over and hundreds of Dragon keepers were disappointed, some even turned against those who had stolen more than one. <br/>When the smuggled egg hatched, she was named Queen of Broken Hearts, as never before had so many people become so bitter and saddened when their hearts broke, realising they had lost the chance to raise one of the beautiful creatures themselves. <br/>Queen of Broken Hearts was hand raised by her mistress rather then being left in the family nursery. She was introduced to the clan when she developed wings and now spends her time toying with the affections of her admirers.
