Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Checkers has two things she loves more than anything—simple childish games and her beloved pet drake Badku. She keeps carrying Badku around in a special purse especially made for that purpose, coos and frets over him and feeds him all kinds of unhealthy treats because he is 'sooooooo cute'. She even had a freezing spell put on him so he would never outgrow his cuteness.

When Checkers plays one of her games, the purse—with Badku in it (in an adorable little drake-sweater)—sits next to the game board as a good luck charm. It actually is quite effective because a dragon that gets hissed at or ever bitten by a drake is not really good at concentrating on game strategies.
