Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arachke is a very old dragon who lives close to the Dusk Divide Keep. Sitting like a huge mountain sentinel near the borders of the Keep, he amuses himself watching the trivial lives of the dragons that flit around. He is hot-tempered, but his languorous stone body doesn't allow for him to react for it; instead, he simmers and holds grudges. He is often a counsel for the others in return for meaningless trinkets and baubles, though his motives for handing out advice may be less than altruistic.

He seems to have some greater scheme in mind and just disappears without a trace at times. Arachke seems to exert control over several of his fellow Keep dragons such as the ember dragon Anbarrius, who obey his rare command or wile. He has a permanent mate in the pebble dragon Arequiem, who he sees as a rare equal.
