Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts autumn weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Hazel can finally can fly, but never uses her wings, considering she didn't need them in the first place. Hazel is a playful young hatchling, and loves making little nests in trees. Hazel gave this idea to clan leader Igneous Heart, that they should have one specific tree near the clan's territory for all the frozen hatchlings. Of course, this would have to be a particularly large tree. Hazel loves playing with her hatchling friends and sometimes only hanging out with another autumn hatchling named Kode.
