Moonstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. They are nocturnal and gather energy through the absorption of moonlight with their orbs. They seem to glow with a lunar light and are a very gentle breed, feeding off of plants and the moons’ power.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Like Solexa, Luma hatched far away from his intended home. Instead of being able to enjoy the soft desert grasses of his homeland, he's had to get creative with his diet. With the help of his nestmate Riptide, Luma found another way to subsist; Algae, corals, and kelp. Still a vegetarian, he's making his life on Mirrelm just as even more wonderful as a peaceful life in the desert, mostly because of his nestmates, especially Solexa, and his mate Nyx.

Speaking of Solexa, the bond between the two nestmates is unique due to the fact it couldn't have happened in the wild. In fact, in the wild, Sunstones often drive off Moonstones whenever they see them, considering them a lesser 'cow-like' life-form. However, this isn't the case between the two, who hatched only hours apart from each other, and were the only two in the hatching cave apart from Gemini, the dragon on egg duty when they hatched.

Sadly, Luma and Nyx are an infertile pair. They plan on adopting hatchlings as soon as possible.
