Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dionysor is impatient, swift, and independent, only loosely bonded to Dragonheart and the other dragons and often gone for long periods of time. His vivid red eyes grow even more so as his mood sours—and it does so quickly—and his mane is unruly and tangled. He is as swift to make decisions as he is to criticize them, and as strong of leg as he is independent of heart. He snaps often, although he's gentler with Liberty, since, as he puts it, "When she breaks down, she's more trouble than she's worth." Dionysor is more of a free spirit than any of the other dragons, and roams far and wide, hardly pausing to consider the feelings of others.
